Dear Parents,

 All students entering grades 3 to 8 will be required to complete a summer math assignment. This summer, parents will have two options:

 Option one:  Order the Skills Builder Math from Rainbow Publishing/Carson-Dellosa by calling 1-800-321-0943 or purchase the book from a Learning How retail store. The store closest to the School of the Cathedral is located in the Shops at Kenilworth (410-823-7300).

 Option two:  Order the Summer Math Skills Sharpener from Tri-C Publications, Inc. at the website, www.summerskills.com.

 Students who are entering grades 3 to 7 should purchase a book on the grade level they just completed or on the grade level they will be entering in the fall (for example, a student who will be in 3^rd grade should complete either a 2^nd or 3^rd grade book). Rising 8^th graders should purchase the Skill Builders Pre-Algebra book (ISBN 1-93221-009-1) from Rainbow Publishers/Carson-Dellosa or the Pre-algebra book from Tri-C publishers.

 It is neither our intent to overwhelm students nor to cause undue stress, but rather to offer an opportunity for students to review and reinforce concepts learned during the school year.  Parent participation to review and check the student's work is encouraged. The summer math books are to be completed and turned in to the homeroom/math teacher at the beginning of school.
