Dear Parents,
As
we conclude another school year,
I want to express my sincere
gratitude to the faculty,
parents, and students for making
it a wonderful year. Hopefully
we will spend time relaxing,
resting, and enjoying family
activities together. Remember to
“Keep holy the summer,”
committed to attending Mass,
appreciating family and the
beauty of God’s gifts. As a
family, take time to serve
others by volunteering to assist
the elderly members of your
community or visiting a nursing
home and Our Daily Bread.
St. Patrick’s Prayer
May the wisdom of God instruct
me,
the eye of God watch over me,
the ear of God give me sweet
talk,
the hand of God protect me,
the way of God guide me.
Christ be with me.
Christ before me.
Christ in me.
Christ around me. Amen.
I
can never believe when another
school year has been completed.
I have to repeat many times,
“Summer is coming!” “Vacation
time is here!” I want to take
this last opportunity to thank
you for your active
participation and entrusting
your child to our care. A
special thanks to the CASPA
Board, School Board, and School
Finance Committee for their
leadership and advice throughout
the year. We will conclude on
Friday, June 6 with a Mass of
Thanksgiving at 9:30 a.m. in the
Cathedral followed by dismissal
at 10:30 a.m. at school. Our
partnership has enabled our
students to be enriched in
spiritual, intellectual, and
personal growth at the School of
the Cathedral.
We
don’t need to do great things to
give witness to the power and
blessings of the spirit in our
lives. We are gifts to one
another. Our faithfulness to the
power of God through the
ordinary events of each day is
the greatest witness we can give
to our community.
I
hope to see everyone at our
Family Picnic tomorrow evening.
It will be held rain or shine.
What a wonderful way to end the
school year! A summer of
activity, routine, and fun will
enhance your child’s learning.
Encourage your child to read and
practice math skills and share
knowledge with family
experiences. Don’t forget to
make God first in all your
summer plans.
My
prayer is that God bless you and
keep you safe. I bless you in
the protection of Mary, Our
Mother, until we gather again
for a new school year. Please
look for the summer mailing
around August 1st. Have a safe
and enjoyable summer. God bless
you!

| SNOW and INCLEMENT
- (check the news alert web page)
Please refer to the Students/ Parents Handbook & Directory on page 14.
Listen to WBAL-1090 AM and WLIF-102 FM. The School of the Cathedral follows the same procedure as the Baltimore County Public Schools for early dismissal or closing.
However, if Baltimore County is on a 2 hour late opening, Cathedral will open 1 hour
late. If Baltimore County opens 1 hour
late Cathedral will also open 1 hour late. When Baltimore County announces an early closing, Cathedral will close
accordingly:
1 hour early = 1:45 p.m.;
2 hours early = 12:45 p.m.;
3 hours early = 11:45 a.m.
In the event of an early closing, we do ask that you pick up your child/ren as close to the specified time as possible. Children will not be left unsupervised, but there will
be no Cathedral Extended Day (CED). Please do not call the School Office or the Parish Center.
SNOW
CLOSINGS E-MAIL ALERT
Since many parents work and do not have access to a
radio or television during the day, we suggest that you sign up with either
WBAL or Schools Out for an e-mail alert on Baltimore County school closings.
Here's how to sign up for Snow Closing Alerts:
For Schools Out go to
http://www.schoolsout.com
Click on "Services" from the menu across the top
Scroll down and select “School’s Out Basic”
which is a FREE e-mail alert service.
Step 1- “Choose the school you want to receive
e-mail notices from”-- Choose Maryland, then choose BALTIMORE COUNTY
PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Step 2- Enter your e-mail address
Hit “Subscribe Me” button at the bottom and
you will be signed up
For WBAL go to http://www.thewbalchannel.com/closings/index.html,
scroll to the bottom and follow the directions for e-mail alerts from WBAL
also using Baltimore County Public Schools as the system for the alert.
CED SNOW POLICY
Important notice concerning early dismissal due to snow/inclement weather.
If Cathedral School closes early due to snow/inclement weather or other
emergency, CED will follow the same guidelines for dismissal, i.e., if
school closes 1 hour early, then CED will close 1 hour early and so forth.
If the snow continues or starts after school dismisses and we hear from
media reports or other parents that driving has become hazardous, your child
will be instructed to call and we ask that you come as soon as possible.
According to the handbook, parents are asked to listen to WJZ TV or other
local TV or radio stations for early closing information. Please have an
emergency plan in place for your child in case such a situation arises.
Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, call Mrs. Archer
410-464-4092. |
School Absences
Absences: If your child is going to be absent or late for school, a parent
must phone in by 8:10 a.m. each day of the absence with the reason for the
absence. Call 410-464-4100, select the option for the main office (#5) and
select the option to leave a message on the absentee line.(#1). Any absence
not reported is considered unexcused. |
Please Note: Entry Policy for Late
Students
Students are considered late if they are not in their homeroom by
the 8:10
a.m. bell. If your child enters the building at the bell, he/she is late
and will be required to sign in at the school office. If you are a parent
of a younger child, you may accompany him/her into the building and sign
in on the late sheet. Since attendance will be tracked electronically this
year, it is imperative that each child sign in so that all attendance is
accurate. Children arriving late who do not sign in will be marked absent
for that day. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT TO SIGN THE LATE
SHEET, please
review this with your child. |
Morning Drop Off Reminders
During the morning drop off please remember to follow these rules:
• You may not drop off or pick up your children on Amberly Way for
any
reason. This has become a problem with some parents and poses a safety
risk.
• You may not stop and park your car. Please pull up, let your
children get
out, and continue on your way. If you walk your child in, please park your
car in the second lot beyond the numbered faculty spaces.
• You may not pass other cars in the car line. Please wait
patiently for the
car in front of you to pull out.
Thank you for being courteous to others and thank you for your cooperation |

recently
there

Strep

a

illness.
2A
seemed
to be
particularly
affected
by
this.
There
was a
report
of
Mononucleosis
in 1C
late
last
week.
This
is a
viral
illness
that
is
characterized
by
fever,
a very
sore
throat,
enlarged
tonsils
and
lymph
nodes,
tiredness
and
sometimes
an
enlarged
spleen.
The
incubation
period
is 4

weeks
and it
is
unclear
how
long
one is
contagious
after
contracting

thus
students
are
not
kept

once
the
fever

It is
