The 2009 Cathedral Golf Open
An Overview of
the Day
We
would like to thank all the sponsors, contributors, players,
volunteers and especially The
McGeady
Family,
our lead sponsor of the Cathedral Open. We
appreciate their continued and generous support as our Major
Sponsor. We are also blessed to have generous Event and
Contest Sponsors such as Erik Halvorsen of All Risks, Ltd, Pat Brady
of Crawford Advisors, LLC, and Dave Norman of DavCo Restaurants.
This
year’s outing was held on Monday, September 28 at the Elkridge Club
in Baltimore, Maryland. Our day began under sunny skies and moderate
temperatures, a beautiful day for golfing. The forecast said there
would be inclement weather for later in the day. The event was sold
out again this year with 100 golfers teeing up to play. Sr.
Josephann Wagoner, our Principal, and pastor, Monsignor Robert A.
Armstrong were on hand to wish the golfers well as they finished
their boxed lunches and headed to their carts to tee off promptly at
12:30. The golfers were sent on there way with a blessing from
Father Silvester Kim.
And this year’s winners were:
The
1st Place Gross Team whose names will be engraved
on The SCMOQ Trophy are
Hugh
Mohler, Matt Waldron, Peter Thomas, and Jason Rose.
The
1st Place Net Team, whose names will be engraved
on The
McGeady
Trophy,
are Frank Locke, Stuart Schadt,
Trip
Burch, and Greg Zenger.
Closest to the Pin $500 cash prize
on hole #13 was won by Parent Jim Beese. Closest to the
pin winners on holes: #4-Jamie Pezzulla; #8-Ryan
Kelly; and #17-Mrs. Barbara Stevens won $50
Pro-Shop credit.
Players enjoyed the camaraderie with their fellow golfers both on
and off the course! As the rain came later in the day, golfers
concluded their play and gathered inside the clubhouse for drinks and
delicious hors d’oeuvres consisting of crab dip, a beef carving
station, passed bruschetta, and chicken skewers! The golfers had a
chance to dry off, relax, and enjoy the evening.
John Boote
‘81 was master of ceremonies as he awarded the raffle prizes
and top golfers their prizes to the enthusiastic crowd.
You can read all about the
winners
on the website.
Once
again, we would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way to
make this year’s outing a success! We would especially like to thank
our Chairs
John Boote ‘81 and Pat Franklin
for their commitment, hard work and
effort and the golf committee; Mike
McGeady,
John Blaze,
Kristen Rudolph
and the Development Office for their time and dedication to this
event. Final numbers will be posted shortly for the funds that will
go towards our School Endowment Fund and tuition assistance.
The Golf Outing raised over
$10,600 in funds which will go towards our School Endowment Fund
and tuition assistance.
Congratulations to all of our winners and we hope to see you again
next year!
