Endowments & Planned Giving
Support The Cathedral Tradition of Excellence in Education
Since 1871, The School of the Cathedral has been dedicated to an all-encompassing education of each student through academics and spiritual growth rooted in the values of the Catholic faith. Over the years, we have depended on the commitment of time, talent, and financial resources from our alumni, parents and friends to support our mission and are grateful for their generosity.
Endowment
In 2005, The School of the Cathedral established The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen Catholic Education Endowment Fund through the Archdiocese of Baltimore with the help of the Catholic Community Foundation.
The school initially invested $10,000 from the proceeds of the 2004 Cathedral Golf Open. It was matched by the Archdiocese of Baltimore through the Mustard Seed Match program for a total investment of $20,000. Each year the proceeds of the golf outing are designated for the school’s Catholic Education Endowment Fund as well as other income throughout the year.
Over the years, several generous donors have established named endowment funds providing financial support for the school, including scholarship awards, operating expenses, and capital improvements. The total current value of all endowed funds is $2,870,705.
Planned Giving
A planned gift is a way to fulfill your philanthropic wishes in coordination with your overall financial and estate planning. There are many different options that provide tax-wise advantages such as a gift of appreciated securities or making a charitable donation from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). Bequests can be made in the form of a will or a trust or by making The School of the Cathedral a beneficiary of a retirement plan or insurance policy.
